Lessons Learned

Washington DC has been fun and I have learned a lot. Not only have I learned a lot from different landmarks and museums, I’ve taken away plenty from the generous people we have met with.
Brian Lamb, the ex-president and founder of C-span was seemingly the wisest of all the people we have met. Giving his background and explaining his desire for television to serve people information was extremely fascinating. The most inspiring and comforting takeaway, though, was his reassurance that not knowing what our plans are is totally OK. He emphasized that struggling through your younger years contributes to a better narrative for our life stories.
Graduating in May, I do panic thinking of my future. I want to be successful, but I can be patient.

I agree completely. He told us about working our way up and discovering what we like along the way– we don’t have to know it now. Definitely a good tip for these last few years in college.

Although I am just a junior, I felt the same way. Hearing about patience and flexibility from successful people was eye opening to me. It gives me hope in this capitalistic society that humanity is still present.
